The city says the Broken Arrow Events Park, will be closing for events beginning May 27 until further notice to facilitate construction activity for the Sunset at Broken Arrow Amphitheater, including the venue itself and infrastructure around it.
The city said this closure is necessary “to ensure the safety of the construction team and visitors to the park.”
The 125-acre Events Park along the Creek Turnpike and New Orleans St. hosts about 30 events per year, including ScotFest, which is an official city-support event that brings tends of thousands of visitors locally and from out of state.
Camp Bandage and Rose Kites Over Broken Arrow are among the other events held there. The Challenger Sports Complex will remain open for visitors and competitions during construction.
Aaron McColloch, the city’s media relations director, says the last event scheduled at Events Park is the weekend of May 25. The city stopped scheduling events after that weekend and has spoken with the organizers who had submitted a permit for an event after that weekend. “As for our partners at ScotFest, we have had conversations with them as well and have been assisting them with alternative site options around Broken Arrow,” McColloch said. “We look forward to another great ScotFest in Broken Arrow this year and into the future, and also look forward to welcoming everyone back to the park when it is safe to do so.”
The amphitheater project is a $93 million public/private partnership between the City of Broken Arrow and Sunset at Broken Arrow, LLC, to create a 12,500-seat open-air hospitality and entertainment venue for live concerts on 15 acres adjacent to Events Park. The amphitheater is expected to open for performances in late summer 2025.
