A fundraiser has been set up for the family of Maria Ibanez, a 15-year-old who was shot and killed in her home Tuesday. Maria was reportedly a sophomore at Broken Arrow High School.
“She fought to survive but passed away later that day. She was a outstanding girl and she is very missed,” the page says, which was set up on behalf of Lacy Ibanez. Consider donating here: https://gofund.me/a70e25a4.
The Wagoner County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the 20800 block of East 32nd Place South, just north of the Broken Arrow city limits, at about 1:30 a.m. Investigators learned the female had been shot by a 15-year-old juvenile male.
Deputies said the male juvenile snuck into Ibanez’s bedroom window during the night and at some point a firearm discharged in the residence, striking the Ibanez. A 15-year-old boy who is the suspect is in custody but no charges have been announced.
The Broken Arrow Police Department and Creek Nation Lighthorse Police assisted with the investigation.
