Holland Hall identified the two girls who died in a tragic car crash last week in a memorial Facebook post on Tuesday.
The victims were identified as Claire Esmond, 16, and Mollie Buffington, 17. Both were student athletes at the private school in south Tulsa. The 17-year-old driver, who reportedly survived the crash, was not mentioned in the post.
The Tulsa Police Department, which is handling the crash investigation, hasn’t issued any updates on the cause of the accident, which happened at about 9:45 p.m. Feb. 13 on Riverside Drive just north of 91st Street. Police said the vehicle hit an embankment, traveled downhill and landed in Joe Creek.
TPD’s helicopter was needed to locate the vehicle, and extrication tools were needed to remove the girls from the crashed-out vehicle.
Authorities believe speeding may have contributed to the accident, but official findings haven’t been released yet.
