The popular New Orleans Square Block Party in Broken Arrow that drew thousands last summer in its successful debut will be returning on July 1 to help the city celebrate the Independence Day holiday.
The party will include a Kids Zone, car show, food trucks and vendors, live music courtesy of The Lords of 52nd Street, and a fireworks display. The party kicks off at 6 p.m.
One issue visitors will have to contend with, however, is the $4.4 million construction project that kicked off this month at Elm Place and New Orleans Street.
Construction activity will actually be paused on July 1 and the intersection will be closed at 4 p.m. – reopening overnight or early morning on July 2.
Temporary crosswalks will be created for safe access across New Orleans and Elm. For motorists in the area, detour route signs will be in place:
- Ithica Street north of the intersection
- Utica Street south of the intersection
- Juniper Avenue west of the intersection
- Ash Court east of the intersection
Signage will also be posted for access to event parking (northeast, southeast, southwest parking lots).
The northwest parking lot will be where everything happens. Check out the city of Broken Arrow’s New Orleans Square Block Party web page for a map of the grounds, detour routes, and updated information.
An armada of food trucks is also expected for the party as well. Here’s a tentative lineup of who plans to be there:
