The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said a pedestrian was killed Friday afternoon on the Turner Turnpike just east of Stroud.
Troopers said the man was struck by an oncoming car at about 1:37 p.m. in the westbound lanes of the turnpike. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by Miller EMS from injuries sustained in the collision.
The victim was a 53-year-old man from Tulsa, but his name was withheld late Friday pending notification of next of kin.
OHP said the driver of the 2017 Ford F-150 that hit the man was 37-year-old Kendall W. Swaffar of Broken Arrow. He was not injured.
OHP said the cause of the collision is still under investigation.
The Stroud Fire Department, Oklahoma Turnpike Authority, Oklahoma State Medical Examiner’s Office, and Alpha and Omega Mortuary Service assisted at the scene.
