Tulsa police recently arrested a man who allegedly admitted he was high on meth when he stole a truck and trailer with a dog inside.
Officers were called to an auto theft Saturday at about 2:20 p.m. near 1st Street and Utica Avenue.
Officers learned the suspect, later identified as David Palmer, stole the 2007 Ford Expedition and took off. The Expedition was pulling a boat, and the victim’s dog was also inside the SUV at the time.
Officers spotted the vehicle near 3rd Street and S. Lewis Avenue and initiated a traffic stop. Palmer stopped the vehicle, then sped off away from officers two times during a short pursuit.
About half a mile down the road, Palmer hit stop sticks, police said, and Palmer was taken into custody at the scene.
Officers recovered the dog, SUV and the boat, and the dog was reunited with the victim at the scene.
Palmer was carrying methamphetamine in his front pocket and admitted to being high on the drug, police said.
Palmer was arrested on charges of larceny of an automobile after a felony conviction; grand larceny, drug possession, DUI, eluding police and obstruction.
