The Tulsa Police Department’s Auto Theft Unit arrested two people for possessing stolen vehicles where VIN numbers were illegally swapped.
Tulsa police said they were conducting a nationwide investigation into stolen vehicles and VIN swapping and found some of the stolen cars were brought to Oklahoma and sold.
The Auto Theft Unit served a search warrant at a home in Broken Arrow. With help from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and the Broken Arrow Police Department, officers recovered six stolen vehicles and arrested Jody Ruffin.
Ruffin was arrested for 12 counts of possession of a stolen vehicle and 12 counts of transfer of a vehicle vehicle with an altered VIN. His bond is currently set at $1.2 million.
Officers also arrested Sandra Givens-Goff as part of the same investigation on 6 counts of possession of a stolen vehicle and 6 counts of transferring a vehicle with an altered VIN.
This investigation is ongoing at this time as detectives continue to make arrests and recover stolen vehicles across the Tulsa area, the department said
