The 2024 class of Leadership Broken Arrow will host two educational sessions, including one-on-one tutorials, to provide Broken Arrow seniors with the knowledge they need to confidently navigate the digital ecosystem through their smartphones.
Step into Technology will be hosted at the Broken Arrow Senior Center, 1800 S. Main Street, on Tuesday, April 2, and Wednesday, April 3, from 1 to 3 p.m. for members of the Broken Arrow Seniors organization.
Despite the ubiquitous influence of smartphones over the past two decades, technology is constantly evolving and can be difficult to keep up with even for the most tech-savvy of users.
Step into Technology is an initiative to help individuals 55 years of age and older to learn more about smartphones beyond just simply making and receiving calls and text messages. The sessions will include:
- Smartphone Terminology Explained
- Navigation Basics
- Managing Contacts
- How to Take, View, Edit, Save, Send Photos and Videos
- Managing Smartphone Privacy and Security
Additionally, one-on-one help will be available to members of the Broken Arrow Seniors organization who want to expand their knowledge in a more personal setting.
“We are always looking for opportunities to engage with our members in ways that have an impact and benefit their daily lives,” said Kimberly Crenshaw, Executive Director, Broken Arrow Senior Center.
“Smartphones provide us with conveniences like sharing videos with family and friends, paying bills, booking an Uber, and so much more. But these devices can also be incredibly frustrating to learn and to use them safely.”
“I am grateful to Leadership Broken Arrow for this amazing opportunity to provide our community’s seniors with tools they can use to meet their needs.”
Leadership Broken Arrow is a 10-month-long leadership development program of the Broken Arrow Chamber of Commerce. Participants gain knowledge to grow their individual leadership skills while also learning about Broken Arrow to help influence the city’s future through community involvement.
Broken Arrow Seniors is a non-profit organization that serves more than 2,900 individuals aged 55 and older with the mission of providing a safe place with programs and activities.
