A man from Broken Arrow was hospitalized Saturday night after his truck ran off the highway into a ditch.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said John Smith, 74, was driving his Dodge 1500 westbound on the Creek Turnpike, 500 feet east of Olive Avenue, at about 9:23 p.m. when his car veered of the highway to the right, struck a light pole, traveled another 80 feet and came to rest in a ditch.
OHP said Smith was incoherent upon being contacted by first responders and he may have suffered a medical episode while driving.
Smith was taken by Broken Arrow Fire EMS to Hillcrest Hospital South in Tulsa and admitted in fair condition with arm and head injuries.
