The Broken Arrow Fire Department is being credited for putting an early stop to a fire Thursday and saving man’s best friend as well.
BAFD was called for a residential structure fire near in the 2300 block of West Memphis Street, near 81st Street and Aspen Avenue, at 3:51 p.m. Engine 5 arrived first on scene and firefighters discovered heavy smoke and fire in the kitchen through a window.
Crews quickly attacked the fire and stopped it to prevent any further spread. Residents were able to evacuate safely but firefighters went in to rescue a pet dog still inside.
The dog was found unconscious and rescued from the home. Firefighters quickly applied oxygen to the dog and after a few minutes the dog became conscious and is expected to be fine.
