Construction on a new residential park, featuring a playground and a splash pad, is in progress in the northeastern part of Broken Arrow.
The 2.52-acre park is on 37th Street (209th St.), between Albany St. (61st St.) and Omaha St. (51st St.)
“The new park currently under construction at 3000 N. 37th St. is a great addition to Broken Arrow’s Park system,” Parks and Recreation Director Matt Hendren said.
“The new park, featuring a playground, splash pad, parking lot, and shade structures, is a much-needed addition in the northeast part of the City.”
Other features include picnic tables, benches, and a connection to the walking trail around the nearby retention pond.
The 20-space parking lot is now graded. The aggregate base course, a sub-layer separating the soil and the asphalt, will be installed soon, followed by the asphalt installation. Construction on the park project will continue to progress throughout the spring.
The City Council will adopt a name for the park in an upcoming meeting later this year.
Construction Division Manager Timothy Robins says the playground portion of the project will be finished in early to late spring. The splash pad is projected to open on Memorial Day weekend.
Magnum Construction, Inc. was awarded the park construction contract at the July 20, 2021, City Council meeting at a cost of $649,646.00 paid for with funds from the 2018 GO Bond.
