Officials from Tulsa International Airport (TUL), TNP Fuels, and others celebrated a milestone today with the groundbreaking of the airport’s first-ever onsite convenience store, “On the Fly TUL”.
The new retail and fueling destination, owned by TNP Fuels, will provide a much-needed service for travelers, rental car customers, and airport employees.
TNP Fuels is a newly established business founded by Pete and Tina Patel, co-principals of Promise Hotels LLC. The couple, known for their nearly dozen successful hotel properties, own and operate the Hilton Garden Inn and the recently built Home2 Suites by Hilton Tulsa Airport, both located on airport property. On the Fly TUL represents their first venture into convenience retail.
Located directly next to the airport’s Cell Phone Lot, and behind the Hilton Garden Inn, On the Fly TUL will feature a drive-thru, grab-and-go food options, including a chicken and pizza concept, along with fresh deli selections. Thousands of airport employees and passengers alike will benefit from the store’s offerings, making it a welcome addition to the airport’s growing amenities.
The new facility will also be a prime stop for rental car customers needing to refuel before returning their vehicles. With its strategic location and well-planned layout, On the Fly TUL is set to become a key part of the airport’s customer service experience.
“We are thrilled to break ground. This area has long lacked food and fuel options, and we are excited to fill that need” said Pete Patel, President and CEO of Promise Hotels. “With major employers like Spirit AeroSystems, American Airlines Maintenance, UPS, and FedEx nearby, we anticipate strong demand. Additionally, rideshare drivers, taxi services, and car rental return drivers will benefit from the convenience of fueling up and grabbing a bite to eat.”
“As Tulsa International Airport continues to grow, we’re focused on adding amenities that make travel easier and more enjoyable. ‘On the Fly TUL’ is a great example of how we’re working with local business leaders to bring new services to the airport” said Daniel Regan, Director of Real Estate and Business Development at Tulsa Airports Improvement Trust.

“We are proud to partner with Pete and Tina Patel on another project. Their deep understanding of hospitality makes them the perfect fit to introduce this new concept at the airport.”
The $4.7 million project is being brought to life through a team of experienced partners. The architecture and design are led by Schemmer, while the store layout has been crafted by
Paragon Solutions out of Fort Worth, Texas. Kleinco Construction, a third-generation family-owned business with deep roots in Tulsa, is leading the construction efforts. The project is financed by Firstar Bank and TEDC Creative Capital. The convenience store is set to open in late 2025.
