OOLOGAH — Three people, including a Wagoner resident, were killed this past weekend in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 169 just north of Oologah, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said.
First responders were called to the area of County Road E 300 and Highway 169 at about 9:30 p.m. for a head-on collision between a Chevrolet Trax and a GMC Sierra pickup truck that was pulling a boat, OHP said in a news release Monday.
Tulsa Traffic Jams reported the GMC was traveling north and the Trax was driving south when the GMC crossed over the centerline and hit the Trax head-on.
State troopers said the driver of the Trax, 21-year-old Ryan Lawfer of Sapulpa, was killed in the crash, as well as passengers Aidan Jones, 22, of Wagoner and a 17-year-old juvenile from Kiefer, who name was not released. No seat belts were in use in either vehicle, OHP said.
State troopers are withholding the name of the other driver pending further investigation, although one passenger in that vehicle was confirmed injured.
The Rogers County Sheriff’s Office, Nowata County Sheriff’s Office, Northwest Rogers County Fire Protection District and Cheal Fire Department assisted at the scene.
