Four residents are slated to run for a seat on the Broken Arrow school board that will come open in 2022.
Due to the number of filed candidates, a primary election will be held Feb. 8 and runoff on April 5 if necessary for Zone 2 seat.
With the filing deadline passing at 5 p.m. Wednesday, the candidates for Zone 2 on the Broken Arrow Public Schools Board of Education are:
• J.W. Berry, 73, 4300 S. Redbud Ave.
• George Ghesquire, 43, 1204 W. Honolulu St.
• Robyn Havener, 44, 11417 S. 193rd E. Ave
• Debbie Taylor, 65, 17926 E. 101st St.
Joshua Moon, a fifth candidate, has dropped out.
The current Zone 2 board member is Steve Majors. School board terms are for 5 years. Sites for the zone are Arrow Springs ECC, Leisure Park Elementary, Lynn Wood Elementary, Vandever Elementary, Sequoyah Middle School, Freshman Academy.
A primary election will be held Feb. 8. If one person wins at least 51% of the vote, they will be declared the winner. If there is no majority, a runoff election would be held on April 5.
