The Tulsa Police Department has one person in custody after a homicide that occurred Thursday night at a gas station near 61st and Highway 169.
Police were called to the QuikTrip in that area about a shooting around 10:40 p.m. and found Estrella Mendoza deceased in the parking lot due to a gunshot wound.
Through the investigation, officers learned Mendoza arrived at the gas station with her husband and sister-in-law, Alexis Flanner. Flanner and Mendoza walked into the store, then exited together. Then Flanner allegedly shot Mendoza and fled.
Police said they have reason to believe there was an altercation that took place between the Flanner and Mendoza just prior to the shooting. Officers located Flanner near 51st Street and Yale Avenue and she was taken into custody.
Due to Flanner’s Native American status, she was booked into jail on a hold for the FBI.
